Little Leah has joined the family. She had a bit of a rough start but after 3 loooong days, she came home and we’re glad to have her! She was born Saturday May 23rd at 7:42am, weighing in at 6lbs 7oz, 18.25 inches in length.
When she was born they found she had labored breathing. They put her on oxygen and did a bunch of other stuff that Mike understands. All I know (as mom) is I didn’t get to see her or hold her. I did venture out to the nursery at one point in the day and it was so sad to see my little baby with tubes and wires everywhere. After a few hours the Dr decided that it would be best for Leah to go to the NICU in Provo. So the life flight crew came prepped and ambulanced her down to Provo.
At which time, I decided I was also leaving. No reason to stay in a hospital if my baby is somewhere else. That night Mike and I came home to the rest of our little family but we missed little Leah so much. Mike and I actually took a trip to Provo to see her at 3am…. when we got there we were pleasantly surprised to find that at about 11:30pm they took her off the ventilator and she had been breathing all on her own all night. But we were still not allowed to hold her or feed her since she had tubes and wires still all hooked to her. The next morning (Sunday) at about 10:30-11am the the Dr. called and said come feed her, the sooner she get’s eating down the sooner she can go home. We found friends who would take the other kids and we rushed off to the hospital to finally get to hold our baby girl.
That night I stayed at the hospital with Leah and fed her through the night and the next morning when the Dr came to see Leah good news was heard. Most likely she would be able to go home that evening. So another day (Monday) was spent at the hospital with Leah as they tested and watched to see that she was stabalized and ready to go home.
That night at about 10pm we finally got to leave the hospital with our Little Leah and gather up the rest of our little family to venture home…. for good this time!
We are so glad to have so many wonderful neighbors, family, and friends that were so willing to help us out though such a long weekend and will never be able to repay all the kindness. Thanks you for all your prayers and well wishes and help!

I bet that was so hard for you to watch them take her away in the ambulance. I remember it was really hard when Benson had to stay at the hospital and I went home. I decided to rent a room at the hospital so I could stay near him. It’s so great that Leah recovered so quickly. Girls are tough.
