Amelia Carbine – “Master Cake Decorator”

My sister… Amelia!  She is totally amazing.  She has always been so crafty and detailed at that!  She always had the cutest doodles and everything about her was very detailed.  And of course she has only gotten better through the years.

I believe… she took an interest in cake decorating the year Mike and I got married.  I had asked a lady we knew to do our wedding cake…. she was a real good friend of Amelia’s.  The lady agreed to do it but then had a family problem arise days before my wedding.  She brought over the sugar flowers that she had made for my cake and said I am so sorry, then disappeared.  The flowers were mostly all a disaster.  My mom said, well, let’s just pick a few of the nicer ones and use them!  Amelia said, no way!  She took one look at those flowers and said, they can’t be that hard to make…. and set to making flowers for my cake.

But we were back at square one with no “Real” cake decorator.  So we called one of my aunts and asked if she had time to help.  She said she would love to help, but left a disclaimer that she was not the best cake decorator… though she did know what she was doing.  We said, Great! So the night before our wedding We went over the plans layout of the cake…. Amelia was so facinated and asked if she could watch or even help.  My aunt gladly accepted her request and they made me a beautiful cake!

That was then…. The latest news is that she won 3rd Place at The Grand National Wedding Cake Competition.  This was only her second time competing a cake.  It was a lot of work but she loved the challenge.  The cake was titled “Love Letters”.  Her inspiration and the letters that are portrayed around the cake are love letters between my grandmother and grandfather while he was away in England flying in  WWII. We are so proud of Amelia and her fabulous abilities in cake design.

Isn’t she amazing!  You can see more of her work at
