An Eventful Saturday

We had a most eventful Saturday… it all began with a hike near Midway, Utah… It was called Burnt Ridge but along the way we were geocaching (did I mention, I think we’re hooked). So….. yes, we took a short little hike up a hill to look down over Heber Valley and found a cache at the top. It was a beautiful view of the valley and a fun little find.

Then we were on our way to the DFO (Dastrup family Organization) Reunion at Jordanelle. It was a beautiful breezy day and so much fun was had visiting, eating, and playing with family. Alyssa had a little too much fun and had a hard time toward the end of the day from lack of nap time. So we ended up leaving Emily with Grandma, and took Alyssa and Brandon for a drive for nap time. While out driving around we got the urge to find another geocache (since there were so many in the area). We found one that was so close and easy to get to. It was our third cache (second for the day), with many fun things inside.

As dinner was winding down at the reunion, the wind began to pick up from a nice breeze to quite the gusts. Then came the rain and lightning! It was quite the storm and those that were still around huddled together to try and keep everyone warm and Grandmas and Grandpas out of the rain. The storm didn’t much make Alyssa happy… in fact she did not enjoy a single bit of it. As soon as the storm calmed for a minute everyone madly dashed to their cars and that was the end.

Although it truly was a beautiful storm!

In the end we got home safely and had a wonderful Sunday to relax and recover…. and we can’t wait till our next fun adventure.

So fun! I wish we were closer to hiking places. It must be fun! I’m sure I’d be in as good as shape as you if I could.

I love a good rain storm in Utah because it actually cools things off instead of making it more muggy like it does here. Glad you had such a fun day!
