Today we began our Saturday hike with our friends (the Lee Family). It was fun hiking with them again since they have been out of town or so busy on most weekends. The kids had so much fun chatting with each other as they plodded along the trail up to Scout Falls. When we reached the falls it was a little tricky getting into the actual area to see the falls so Mike went on in and took pictures as we hung out with our friends eating a snack. Then our friends had to head back. When Mike got back we decided it wasn’t that hard to get past the tricky spot and we ended up being able to get everyone up to the actual waterfall. It was a beautiful view.
Then we decided to give geocaching a try. Mike had a hand held GPS with our trail on it and spots were some caches could be found. We headed on up the trail a little further and then ventured off the trail to find the spot where the cache was hidden. It was fun and the kids thought it was cool that we were looking for treasure in the mountains
The spot where the cache was hidden had a beautiful view and was such a pretty peaceful place. We went about 4.5 miles in all. Needless to say, we were pleasantly surprised to have such a great cache for our first find. There were many different little treasures inside the cache…. one of which were breath mints (placed there originally in 2003)… but because they were there we each had to have one. Yup we ate 5 year old breath mints (they weren’t bad at all). We had bouncy balls in the kids packs, so we left one (that had little stars inside it) in the container and signed the book. Here’s a picture of the tree where the cache was stashed, and a few others of the surrounding area.
All in all it was a fun day involving friends, treasure hunting, waterfalls, and beautiful sites.
Oh but how can I forget….. at the falls Emily took a spill down the mountain. She didn’t get to far because she landed in bushes (prickery ones at that). Mike was there and pulled her out, she was surprisingly calm through the whole thing but wasn’t happy about the stickers she got. So no harm done but hopefull a lesson well learned…
Stay on the trail and Stay safe!

I found your blog from a search on geocaching and really enjoyed my visit. Congratulations on your first geocache. My wife and I have been geocaching for just over a year and are having a blast. Our blog is all about geocaching.
It looks like you have a wonderful family – great photos on your site. Years ago while visiting friends in Utah, we hiked up to Timpanogos Cave. Your previous post brought back some wonderful memories. Thanks for posting them!

Wow, your pictures are beautiful. We have been wanting to try Geocaching at a park out here and I think that maybe we will now that I read your post. You guys are quite the outdoorsy family.
