Sunday lessons

Today Mike and I gave talks in church… so we had to sit up on the stand. For those who may not know we are regular “front row sitters“. So we sat Emily and Brandon down on the bench just in front of us and told them we are watching you… sit quietly. I am proud to say that they sat quietly through most the meeting. During the last song Emily got a little bossy and was trying to tell Brandon what page he was supposed to be on in the Hymn book. But over all they did well…. Alyssa slept through the meeting (as always). And all was well.

When we were asked to speak Mike was so happy… I however was not exactly ecstatic. I’ve managed to get away from 2 wards and over 7 years without having to speak in a sacrament meeting. Mike even mentioned in the beginning of his talk that we have been married 7 years and this was our first time speaking together, I had never thought on that much but it is true. Last time I spoke was in our BYU Singles ward.

I’m thankful to say that I survived…. it wasn’t near as scary as I remember. I didn’t speed through all my material and leave Mike with 40 minutes for his talk. I was fairly calm and almost rather enjoyed it. I suppose it helps that I was prepared. :0) Now don’t get me wrong I am not saying I want to get up and speak in front of large crowds weekly but I did manage and I won’t be so unexcited next time I am asked.

I suppose it’s true that as you grow things become less difficult.

You guys did great today. Your kids are angels. I hope Benson can be as good as them someday (at least in sacrament meeting).
