New New New….

We have had so much new happen in our lives in the past few months…. and I have been awful at keeping up to date.

Firstly, Alyssa is a pro walker/dancer/twirler these days! She goes wherever her little legs will carry her…. but her favorite thing is to run away from mom (or dad) when they say otherwise. She is such a joy to watch grow into her own little personality.

Emily is loving soccer (as before) but now she is in outdoor soccer. With the warm weather started outdoor soccer and she loves seeing all her friends and running and playing with them each weekend. After many scrapes and bruises she learned to ride her bike without training wheels. She loves to ride her bike around and hopes to soon venture off the sidewalk for a ride around the neighborhood. Along with all this growing up and finishing Kindergarten she lost her first tooth.

Brandon after seeing Emily on 2 wheels decided he was done with training wheels too…. it took him a few more days of falls and bruises but he finally got it down and is on 2 wheels too. He is so excited for the summer and starting T-ball soon.

In the middle of all this growing up, we moved our little family to a new house. Same neighborhood, same street, just a new house. Our very own house! It’s been so much fun to get settled and decorating…. not so much the weeding but the flowers have been beautiful to watch blossom.  Sorry no great pics of the house yet.

Last but not least….. Little Leah has joined the family. She had a bit of a rough start but after 3 loooong days, she came home and we’re glad to have her! She was born Saturday May 23rd at 7:42am, weighing in at 6lbs 7oz, 18.25 inches in length. (Continue to the next post if you want the long version)

So there you have it a short recap of our past few months…. I’m sure I have forgotten many of the little important things, but it’s better than nothing!

Leah Elizabeth Lantz

Little Leah has joined the family. She had a bit of a rough start but after 3 loooong days, she came home and we’re glad to have her! She was born Saturday May 23rd at 7:42am, weighing in at 6lbs 7oz, 18.25 inches in length.

When she was born they found she had labored breathing. They put her on oxygen and did a bunch of other stuff that Mike understands. All I know (as mom) is I didn’t get to see her or hold her. I did venture out to the nursery at one point in the day and it was so sad to see my little baby with tubes and wires everywhere. After a few hours the Dr decided that it would be best for Leah to go to the NICU in Provo. So the life flight crew came prepped and ambulanced her down to Provo.

At which time, I decided I was also leaving. No reason to stay in a hospital if my baby is somewhere else. That night Mike and I came home to the rest of our little family but we missed little Leah so much. Mike and I actually took a trip to Provo to see her at 3am…. when we got there we were pleasantly surprised to find that at about 11:30pm they took her off the ventilator and she had been breathing all on her own all night. But we were still not allowed to hold her or feed her since she had tubes and wires still all hooked to her. The next morning (Sunday) at about 10:30-11am the the Dr. called and said come feed her, the sooner she get’s eating down the sooner she can go home. We found friends who would take the other kids and we rushed off to the hospital to finally get to hold our baby girl.

That night I stayed at the hospital with Leah and fed her through the night and the next morning when the Dr came to see Leah good news was heard. Most likely she would be able to go home that evening. So another day (Monday) was spent at the hospital with Leah as they tested and watched to see that she was stabalized and ready to go home.

That night at about 10pm we finally got to leave the hospital with our Little Leah and gather up the rest of our little family to venture home…. for good this time!

We are so glad to have so many wonderful neighbors, family, and friends that were so willing to help us out though such a long weekend and will never be able to repay all the kindness. Thanks you for all your prayers and well wishes and help!

Weekend Highlights

A few highlights from our weekend starts off with dinner Friday night with Grandma and Grandpa Dastrup.  Willie and Britta, and Tommy and Kristen came too

with all the cousins that belong.  It was a fun filled night… yummy food, Basketball on TV, and toys for kids to share.  I didn’t get the camera out  :(  but I promise we had a fun evening!

Then Emily and Zoe played soccer Saturday morning at 8:30.  They are the Eagles and they had tons of fun…. their coach did a good job of trying to teach them a little more about offense and defense.  It was fun to watch them play.  Emily has been looking forward to playing soccer again all week…. Friday morning first thig she said to me was, “I can’t wait for this day to be over cause then I can

play soccer again”.

I am a pretty big slacker and once again forgot the camera…. so these pictures aren’t the best quality because they were taken with my phone.

Later in the day Alyssa was putting on quite the show.  She was having so much fun practicing standing up all by herself and walking around.  She may be a full on walker before we know it.  Then she’ll be right on the heels of Emily and Brandon.

Emily had my camera and these are a few pictures she snapped of Alyssa.

Our little walker…

Alyssa has been taking a few steps here and there…. not a real walker yet.  She still drops to the ground and crawls everywhere she wants to go.  But she has become a little braver and more sure of herself…. if she thinks she can get there walking and she’s already standing…. then she gives it a try!

Here is a short clip of her walking between couches.

Emily’s First Soccer Game!

Today was an exciting day for Emily…. a day she has been waiting for for a long time.

She began soccer!  This month she is on an Indoor Soccer league.  The kids had so much fun running around kicking and chasing the ball.  A neighborhood friend, Zoe is on her team with her and they are so excited to play together.

She practiced a little with Mike and Brandon before the game and spent the first half practicing with her team.  Then they played!

A fun time was had by all….

Our 5 Year Old Boy!

Brandon’s 5th birthday was a “Cars Birthday”.

It wasn’t originally planned that way it just turned out that way!  :)  (and he loved it)

For an early birthday present he got this bedroom set… an upgrade to a big kid bed!  :)

So we opted for a fun “Cars” themed cake.  He loved it!

Here he is with all his great gifts.  Notice all the cars, it just happened that way…. :)

For the day we had waffles for breakfast and had “Cars” Mac n Cheese for lunch.  We then headed up to the Planetarium to see The Ultimate Universe and hung out around the Planetarium for a bit looking at all the cool stuff.  For dinner we went out to the Mayan with Grandma and Grandpa Lantz… the divers of course being a big hit (might I just add that we all ate way to much of their good food…. we were stuffed).  That evening we had some of our family over for Cake and Ice Cream for more pictures  of the party you can visit our flickr page!

Overall it was a fun filled day celebrating Brandon!

As a side note Alyssa isn’t quite walking yet… she takes a few steps to reach something close…. but if she feels it is to far away she’ll opt for dropping to her knees and just crawling.  She is so close…. just not quite there!

Behind…. why do I do this?

I let myself get behind a few events and so I will be playing catch up in the next couple of posts.  I figured I would put them all in their own post so that there wont be just one long post that no one reads.  :)

Craziness in the House

Friday (Feb 6th) was crazy hair day at school… I must first make a disclaimer that this is my first attempt at doing someones hair crazy…  :P  and I did it in 10 minutes just before we were running out the door.

So here we go… crazyness of hair!

CIMG2630

Mike lovingly referred to it as more of messiness than craziness, but she wore it and loved that her hair was different!

Later that evening Alyssa took her first couple steps.  She was holdingin onto a chair a few steps from Mike and decided that she was going to get over to dad… she let go, got her balance and walked a few steps.

Sadly no one saw it but dad.  But we are all still proud of her and encourage her constantly….. to little avail!  Some day she may decide to walk to mom!
